2005-08-22: Escher's Elevator mourns the departure of Bob Moog, and we
thank him for making the world a better place. His spirit lives on in
every circuit trace and every oscillation. We present here an excerpt
of what the spirit of Bob Moog living in Cliff's Moog Rogue had to say
on the evening of August 22, 2005:

These sounds were recorded directly from Cliff's Moog Rogue, with no
intervention other than turning the volume up at the beginning and down
at the end. You are free to use this recording under the terms of the

Escher's Elevator is now a trio, featuring Erich Schriefer on guitar,
Theremin, Omnichord, and effects. We spent several days in mid-July in
the studio recording tracks for what will be our first album. Stay
tuned for more details!

Escher's Elevator is a new collaboration between Kurt
Kistler and Cliff McCarthy. Drawing on our years of improvisational
interaction as members of Magpu, we
aim to create improvised music that visits non-traditional sonic realms,
while also incorporating more familiar elements. This music tends to be
fluid and gradual; themes and arrangements are created or discovered on
the spot and evolved by the demands of the moment. We gladly share our
music with anyone who takes the time to listen, and we thank you for
visiting us here on the web!
We have put together a short mix of some of the music we have produced
during our "Research and Development" sessions; you can download it
